  • Was it still under warranty when you lifted it? I want to lift my 09 X but I do not want to mess up warranty

  • @norcalsav

Yes and both diffs have been replaced after the lift under warrenty. I do have the extended drive train coverage.

  • Thanks! The X is great on and off road, Front and rear diffs are weak links. If you jump one and hit the ground with wrong wheel RPM the front diff will explode. Also the IRS will not stand up to abuse. You really need solid front/rear axles for jumping and bashing around. THe X crawls rocks fine, but you must be very careful and smooth onthe gas to avoid diff problems. Since the video, the front diff broke - covered under extended warrenty, but be careful. The X is great but not real durable.

  • Have you broken any front differentials on this rig?

  • No! Had a rear diff spider gear break - Nissan replaced the entire rear axle assembly.

  • It's an auto, which may help. Be careful leeting the clutch out too quickly on steep, rocky climbs. The shock to the front diff may contribute to a failure.. BTW, Nissan replaced the entire rearend assy at no charge, even with the lift, winch and other accessories already installed.

  • @danielpintilie I have and '08 with 98K and have taken on some serious off -road challenges including a 5 rated rock crawling trail in Moab. On that one I had to educate a Rubican driver who couldn't make the climb I had just done in my X. I've had 0 mechanical problems w/ my X and still love driving it. Mods: Home fabricated under-body plating, front winch mount and rear bumper/trailer hitch, 2" lift (no suspension mod), electric fan. Like it better than my 2008 wrangler 4 dr w/ locker.

  • i wish i could hear anything he was saying

  • @ nikkormac LLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!! Lipstick on a pig i laughed so hard i farted.

  • The weak diffs were fixed in 2007 so if you buy a 2008 - present you will be fine...

  • @strapinhotpockets find yourself a good used Jeep Wrangler (TJ or later). tough as nails and absolute billy goats off-road.

  • "not real durable" is not my first choice of qualities for an off-road vehicle to have. :D it is the impression i've always gotten from Nissan vehicles, though - they've always seemed to me to be built out of very flimsy materials, which is why i've never even considered owning one. big tires and a winch bumper on a Nissan just looks to me like lipstick on a pig. it's nice the Xterra is as capable as it is, but choosing one for off-roading seems to me like choosing a VW bug for drag racing.

  • Did you record the audio from the moon?

  • Guys, you really scare me with broken diffs. I want to buy an X-Offroad now I have big doubts. I'm not going to abuse or jump with the truck, just backroads, steep places and some mud. Still can break with no abuse?

  • Awesome!
