I presented laughter to a gynaecological cancer support group of the Sydney Adventist Hospital here in Sydney, Australia on Monday 15th August 2011. In preparing for the session, I found anecdotal evidence from one person in Peru - Jacqueline Domhoff - that laughter yoga may have a role in remission or cure of ovarian cancer. I found this YouTube video hard to find. It's in Italian and not tagged. The purpose of my video here is so Jacqueline's video can be found, through me.
I may not agree with all the points on laughter that Jacqueline reports on in this video, just as one commenter on Jacqueline's video ("JoyfulGent", a laughter colleague of mine) has done so already. But what is undeniable is Jacqueline's experience.
Jacqueline's video is for information purposes. It's not a medical endorsement of any kind. There is nothing yet that is published in the medical literature about the role of laughter in ovarian cancer. (But laughter is a great stress buster, and stress has a role in the origin of many ailments.)
Jacqueline's video is presented here just for information purposes. And because conventional therapies, as good as they are, in some cases can take us only so far. And in that gap that medical science cannot fill, there can be hope. And an unyielding faith in the power of the human body, under the right conditions, to heal itself.
