When the Sun Comes Out-- a song she sang first in the early 60's and is one of my favorites. It was thrilling to hear her perform this live. Barbra does "blues" like no one else-- of course!
She is still the greatest diva! I do not think that her voice disintegrated. It has changed but not diminished. Barbra is one of those singers that has placed so much emotional consumption to the song. This very difficult piece was sung great and uniquely. A fabulous interpretation which surpasses the hope and glory of unexpected love.
Congrats! You have learned that people's talents tarnish (or get richer) as they get older. It's like saying when Jackie Joyner-Kersee is 50: "Well, she can't run like she use to...." Seriously.
I know what you mean, and thankyou for that. Yes, her voice in the 60s was top-range...but it has always been beautiful until the last 2 years - I can see (or hear) a very sudden deterioration - one reviewer said of her O2 concert that her voice sounded gravelly when she attempted to hit the high notes, but ackowledged that her vocal chords were after all 65 years old (then)...nevertheless, she is to me a legend and phenomenon that will never ever be equalled...a gift from the Gods.
I'm sorry that was unfair.I guess it's hard for some folks to understand stars do get
older.I would just like people to really THINK before they post things about her voice I mean really it's not possible for her to sound like she did in the 60's ,but your right that was unfair I'm sorry.
You know why she fanned her hands at the end...she was signaling to the lighting guy to dim the lights. She demands perfection and rightly so. :)

It's amazing that at sixty-five she can still hit that "in" at the end!

My view of her was pretty limited. But God, I could feel her presence.
