Swiss Trio Rock Band STEVANS performing at Abart Club in Zurich on 22nd of September 2007 one of their hit songs, Monday's Wedding. Filmed and edited by Olivier Aubert in Zurich.
I used one camera only but a Sony HDR-HC7 (very good camera and small)and of course, having only one camera to film a concert is not enough and that's why I used some images filmed in another gig of Stevans (Luzern-Alcatraz) to fill the gaps and have a richer video with more angles and positions. Those shots from Luzern can be easily recognized in the film as I edited them in black & white or sepia because the lighting was very different,it matches better not using them in original colors. Yvan Franel the singer-guitarist used to wear the same t-shirt on both gigs so that makes it pretty realistic but in the other hand, John Chirico on drums had a beard in Zurich and shaved in Luzern, but I found this nice and funny, puzzling even. Also there was a smoke-dispatcher in Zurich Abart but none in Luzern, that's maybe what I think it's worst, but anyway..
The result is pretty good I think and the images quality exceptional regarding the camera used (not a pro camera) and no light set up.
The sound is another story...
There will be two more videos of Stevans, one is already online (but I battle getting the thumbnail picture representing the clip as it seems that one has no control on the choice. It keeps on changing, and I try downloading a nice shot from the film that I would get and choose but still not working...That's a weak point on YouTube system as it makes its own random choice itself). So, the second video is the rocky song "Emotional Cash, but I somehow fu**ed up with the sound adjustment, and as I moved toward the bass player, it went worst, the cam being a few cm away from the bass speaker, the sound gauge went mad into red..
One thing is sure, I had exceptional time at the gigs, thanks to Stevans, they really cool and lovable, and editing those 2 clips
was a special treat if you enjoy editing.
The third clip will be done soon, it's about their song "Up In The Clouds" that I will edit using both images of the gig and also images of flights in-and-over clouds we made in Africa with our ultralights.
Stevans and I met through the film we made with Mike Blyth in 2005, a crossing of Africa with two microlights planes. Stevans gave us "Monday's Wedding" for the final credits soundtrack at the end of the movie.

Bravo Stevans! I saw this group performing in Zug and was smitten by them! Monday's Wedding is such a feel-good song, I'd probably fall in love with someone who could sing this song to me!!! One of the most unforgettable memories during my last few days in Switzerland was seeing them perform.
More power to you Stevans! I hope to see you in Vancouver someday.
