I wouldn't say "fresh" out of 1-AA. This was their 13th game at 1-A that year. Also, they knew two years in advance they were jumping to 1-A, so half the team knew they were coming to an eventual 1-A program. In fact, it is because of MU that 1-AA teams making the jump are no longer allowed to compete in the 1-AA playoffs two years prior to the move because of the unfair recruiting advantage.
Go Herd! But that's not a good excuse. Ole Miss won because they outscored MU and blitzed Chad all day
