@BT2907 There are screws on the barrel of chemicals because they want to stay in the barrel as long as possible to result in the greatest possible explosion. In bombs, not all of the fuel gets used up. Expert bomb design is all about getting as much of the explosives as possible to react before the system completely flies apart. During WWII and the ongoing Cold War, this was the primary focus of atomic weapons design.
