How to replace the yoke on the Sillette sail drive leg as installed on a Gemini 105Mc Cruising Catamaran. In the event the drive leg hits an object or the bottom with excessive force, the yoke is designed to break first so that the leg itself will remain operational. The yoke can be replaced for little charge.

  • If the hex screws are shot, you might be able to drill them out - just go a size smaller than the width of the screw and use plenty of lubricant (oil) to avoid heating the metal up too much. Also, go slow... With the hex screws out, and the mounting pins lubricated, you should be able to tap the pins out easily.

  • Nice help for us Gem owners! Can you comment on what to do (no broken yoke) when the set screws holding drive leg on, are so corroded you can't remove them? The previous owner apparently never lubricated either side, and the hex set screws are FUBAR. Need removal and tapping bigger? Wheel puller to remove the pins? HELP. Hull 644
