The first of my logo videos since the "Program Exchange Logo History" vid to not be a spoof. This is an EXTREMELY rare version of Screen Gems' (now Sony Pictures Television) 1964 "Dancing Sticks" logo. What makes it so "EXTREMELY rare?" Well, for one, it's a different color version than the one usually seen around these parts, and it has no voiceover.

This was usually seen on Hanna-Barbera cartoons of the period. In fact, it was taken from one -- "Peter Potamus."

  • How did you manage to get one with NO announcement at the end?!

  • There's a video on here somewhere of a closing to "The Peter Potamus Show." This was after it.

  • The Music behind the 'Dancing Sticks' logo was composed by Frank DeVol best known for writing TV theme music such as 'My Three Sons', 'Family Affair' and 'The Brady Bunch'. He also co-wrote, and arranged the Diana Ross and Supremes' 1966 hit 'The Happening' with legendary Motown songwriters Holland-Doizer-Holland.

  • I never knew that.

  • this have the announcer intoning A SCREEN GEMS PRESENTATION.

  • The standard one does, yes.

  • @MooseShady Yea! DeVol was superb!

  • hanna barbera didnt have its own logo until 1967 so screen gems distrubuted the hanna barbera cartoons until that year

  • I remember seeing this at the end of the Flintstones. Of course, this logo is very tame compared to the Screen Gems S.

  • For some reason when I was a little kid this little jingle scared the hell outta me. I'd run into my big brothers arms when this came out.

  • @revueguy I didn't know that. BTW, the font in the words "SCREEN GEMS" is really Arab Brushstroke, not Benguiat Frisky, OK?

  • @mrceleb2006 I also found out that Colin Male was also the announcer on The Andy Griffith Show, how about that!

  • I remember that. Some things I wish would never change.

  • @GOOSEYGOOSE9 The voiceover was Colin Male, and the composer was Frank DeVol.

  • i'm scared of this logo w/o the annoucement

  • this raer logo was seen at the end of "The Peter Potamus Show".
