Some stuff I took on trains in Germany (esp. in Berlin) set to my favorite Rachmaninoff prelude. Unfortunately, I didn't have a video camera, so I had to use the one on my digital camera, so the quality is a little low...

the basic concept was to show the 'mundane chaos' of riding a train--rushing through the crowded stations, trying to get to the right platform on time, and then daydreaming while you look out the window. Also, I was interested in how trains are an intersection of all different kinds of people--from professionals to students to tourists. everyone comes to the trains, and then leaves--intersecting paths with other people without really interacting with them. the use of rachmaninoff is a bit of a nod to Brief Encounter, which used his second piano concerto prominently. (If you haven't seen it, it's about two married people who meet at a train station, fall in love, and then end up going their separate ways.)
