This is little more than a massage, far less pressure than is used with deep tissue work. The ribs move in and out of alignment all the time, other joints in the body as well. They usually move right back in because of movement and pressure from adjusting muscles. Self adjusting just mimics that action. The adjusting muscles get tighter if the rib stays out too long causing some of the pain associated with misaligned ribs. It isn't even close to the force a chiro uses.

This is how I do an adjustment on someone else. Self adjusting a rib is almost as easy.
