Mark< I took time to comment I USUALLY dont? Is America great or what american ingenuity. cleaning up th elect look is ONE of the reasons Ive not ventured into that realm! I do the same effect using my left Twinsteele pedal. No need for a high hat per-se. Check out my youtube "new type of drum pedal" and fast forward to around 6:18. I am using a clapping sound with my left foot, but it could be any sounds in the drum module.....including a high-hat chick (my favorite is maracas).

The electronic high-hat setup at the 7 minute mark of this demo clip can also make a chick on the upstroke if desired.
