Ok. It sounds like its still out at Greater world then. I was out there about four years ago and stopped in. Sometime after my visit, I had seen somewhere, either in their web blog or on the homepage that there was a visitors center going to be built in Taos itself. And the visitors center at Greater worl would be renovated into a dwelling. I,m on vacation right now and its very tempting to think of going out there again. I,m only 5 hours away or so.

I still find it amusing that when you talk to most people about earthships they immediately equate it with those old style basement houses that were common up in my neck of the woods. Cold, damp and musty. When I was at the visitors center, it was not cold and damp and the only thing I could smell was the banana plant in the planter

Yes, it's too bad that more people don't have a realistic idea about earthships. Well, I guess the name doesn't encourage that either. :)

is this out at Greater World, or is it in Taos now?

When I was there, last March, it was in Greater World. I haven't been down since then so I don't know if they've moved it into Taos...maybe you have better intel than I. The visitor's center was just off the road as you enter Greater World. Can be missed easily from the road since earthships are so unobtrusive (another of their virtues). I stayed two nights in the Studio and loved it. Never been so close to the Earth before. Felt just right. Susan
