The original 1965 studio recording of this song is one of my absolute favorites. This performance is horrifying. Mike Love had his lawyers fight for the rights to this song, likely because he penned some of the lyrics. So then he goes onstage and butchers it. Love can't sustain a note, the a cappella vocal break is just plain wrong, and innumerable Beach Boys stand-ins have grated my nerves since the days of Ricky Fataar and Blondie Chaplin.
