@dawngoth20 Nope. If you watch Anna and the King, it is more truthful to the story than the musical. She was running away, but her lover was a monk, so she shaved her head and hid with the monks. He didn't realize she was there, but when she got caught, they blamed him saying that the two were planning to run away together. Anna tried to help Tuptim, and to punish her for interference, Tuptim and her lover were burned at the stake, outside Anna's house. The bio was quite fascinating.
Orchestra wasn't too professional, the king wasn't very good, all of the children turned their backs to the king, Chulalongkorn even turned his back to the king, and the music came too early for him.
@narniaslan47 Reality is often different from Hollywoodstories..Hollywood make everybody look young and photogenic and different cultures to resemble the garden of Eden. Look at pictures of how Siam and Siamese looked like in the 1860S and you will see another picture.
@am1966ath The king wasn't that great and she wasn't ugly. I read the bography on it and he had tuptim killed outside her house to punish her for trying to help the girl.
@aliceskye The king and I is a invented story how westerners saw siamese in 1860..the real Anna Leonowens was an ugly & demanding lady and King Mongkut did not look like an balded hollywood-pirate..lol
In anna and the King that happen's.I know my facts I'm really dedicated to acting and am doing the play right now.
