  • The sound and motion of the characters and objects in the FMVs is phenomenal. This was the first Final Fantasy to do this well. Thanks for posting them. It's pretty interesting without the BGM covering all of the subtleties.

  • At Tears Point, there seems to be 8 statues. Could they be statues of Sages? There are 8 elemental magic, a sage for each one, before magic became ruled by Sorceress.

  • @metalikarm Nice :D I like that it makes sense for square to reference an old title. Alot of people say that gilgamesh is meant to be straight from FF5's world after he dies in the void. Would believe that as well.

  • @wonderwallmusic Actually, Ultimecia will always exist. She died at a certain time period (Orphanage) instead in Time Decompression. And even if she were to, it wouldn't matter, her existance comes from the hatred for Sorceress and any Gravity based Sorceress would be Ultimecia.

By the way: Ellone~Time Sorceress (Embodiment) + Ultimecia~ Gravity Sorceress = Time/Gravity...Time Compression. Alot of eras still nessecary, but simply to see how it was achieved.

  • @Uberjetsu Considering that I posted this two years ago, I did more exploring and more playing of other FFs since then. The 8 statues represent the 8 cleric women in Troia kingdom in FFIV. The bard of the game then played a tune on his harp, which helped Cecil by remonstering a Dark Elf into its true form. These statues represent the remonstering of the planet, and each holds a harp.

  • they just don't make the FMVs like they use to .

  • @metalikarm Theres alot of unexplored mythology in FF8. It was there but you actually had to read about it.

I Like your theory. I also like the theory behind the ring at tears point (doomtrain ring). That great GFs can be sealed within rings hence why squalls ring is so special.

Like it opens up new plot strings and keep enough mystery so your left wondering long after the game is done.

  • omg it looked like the statue was crying :( poor statue :(

    & scary moon :(

  • Tears' Point was one of my favourite places in the game. The funny thing is that I can't find the Tears Point BGM anywhere...it's not in the OST. D:

  • Oh, I see what you meant. No, I would indeed want to prevent apocalypse :). Ultimecia ultimately faced her own fate at her own hands, as well. She basically compressed herself into nothingness.

  • Are you telling me that if you had a tarot card prediction of immenent doom, and you are a known psychic who is always right, you wouldn't want to prevent the end? This however is the cause of it, just like Ultimecia, who thought that using Time Compression, she would be able to ditch fate, but instead she created it.

  • This is why FF8 is better than 7...

But why would Orlan need to see who was involved?
