  • Katherine Birbalsingh I want to thank you for confirming my suspicions that the state is at war with young black boys in your speech you mostly focus on black boys as if they are the main problem. People like you try to make us weak we are in a new era and because of men like Chiek Anta Diop, Walter Rodney we know we have a history and can excel. You take some dead beats families and try to make out that every single Black male child is a problem your the problem.

  • She's really snarky, but doesn't communicate any real content. If I didn't know she were a teacher, I would not have guessed, for it appears she's just repeating Tory mantras.

  • An excellent speech, full of reality, and little politics.

  • The situation is the same in the Swedish catastrophic basic education system - and aggravated also by Swedish Family Break-down socialist policies over decades.

  • Instilling competition isn’t the only way of achieving motivation. Success alone will do it by that I mean being able to see real progress. Teamwork is also a useful way to stimulate motivation and it reflects much of the reality in the business, academic and public worlds these days. Developing digital as well as conventional literacies is yet another way of fostering competence, excellence and motivation .

  • Katharine makes some useful points about the need for excellence and responsibility, but beyond this engages in a considerable amount of stereotyping according to my experience of the public system, but then I work in Australia.

  • @DJCW I agree 100%. 'Even' is such a powerful word in this instance. A very strong suggestion that to be black is some form of detriment.

  • This left/right dichotomy is pure crap. Is there a *libertarian* movement in the UK???

  • Discipline of black boys?

One re-admitted black boy will corrupt ALL the other black boys?

Even if they're Black, even if your on a council estate?

WOW!! Is there any more negative stereotypes you can throw out to generally white and out of touch party?

Her criticism is disproportionate and unwarranted.
