http://www.lockergnome.com/blade/2012... - I've said it many times: There's no such thing as a perfect operating system. They all have their strengths and weaknesses; it's how we navigate around them to suit our needs that makes the difference for each of us. Trying to convert someone else to your operating system of choice is a pointless endeavor, because what works well for you may not work well for them. And you know what? That's okay. Now that we've gotten that out of the way, it's still interesting to find out the reasons behind why someone has decided to make the change from one operating system to another. Have you ever switched from PC to Mac? Mac to PC? Rusty unicycle to untethered burro? Tell us why!

If you payed attention you would know that he has used an IPone/Ipad so he is familiar to alot of the icons. Safari is an example. You should try to open your ears more. The world would be much more easy for you

OSX is nice. Especially the way it looks. It does not however do everything better than windows 7. They both have pro's and con's. Microsoft just really flubbed up with the UI in windows 8.

Or what you need or want to do on your computer is just less advanced than those of us who do real computing? Why do I need root? Is that a serious question from someone 'advanced enough'?

Mac *IS* the Fischer Price of computers. It's designed for people who don't know how to computer - period. If you put another OS on the hardware it's fine, but the OS is so dumbed-down and full of permissions/security nightmares with so little compatible software...not worth it.

False. I guess I'm considered "advanced enough" and can do everything on my Mac that I would need or want to do on a Windows-based or Linux-based PC. It's not like Apple computers are the Fisher Price of PCs or something. They are powerful machines and OS X is a very powerful operating system. I am curious, however, why you would need root access on OS X?

I don't know anyone who has a good experience using Windows 8. Mac OSX is great for people that know nothing about computers. As soon as you get advanced enough to need some of the more advanced commands or *gasp* root access, you'll realize how awful and locked down OSX can be.

I think the only users that have a better experience on windows are gamers and maybe scientists. But most gamers still prefer windows 7 way more than 8.

If all you do is surf the web, watch NetFlix, and hang out on Facebook or Twitter, you won't notice a difference between the two OS's. If you are a serious gamer, a programmer, or a scientist, you are probably going to hate Mac. In the name of 'ease of use' they have hidden most of the 'power' user features.

Okay, I am going to say something, But first, I am NOT a Mac user. I HAVE used macs, And windows, And linux, And a lot of things. But I do not like macs. Now, Windows (Which I am currently using for games) is really weird. It's like, Horrible for everything except games. It's totally bizzare. Firefox will keep freezing, And crashing, The file manager freezes, Programs crash, Just total chaos. But then, You open a game, And this laggy horrible system suddenly works okay. It's so weird.
