  • ...bellissimo...

  • No matter how many times I listen to this, I'm still captivated. Since I started learning the third movement, it's all but consumed my practice time haha.

  • @tfpp1 I think they glance at each other because she is slightly of tempo there.

  • @ 7:36 - I love how the piccolo and flutist glance at each other like, "can you believe her tempo *chuckles*"

  • @parsifal3142 Certainly a challenge for any gay man... lol

  • @elgar34 I like to think I sometimes notice the similarities between different works or the homages paid by composers to their predecessors. SS 4 starts like the last mvt of Mozart 24, T 2 slow movement referencing Beethoven 4 slow mvt. The Grieg and Schumann. And Dohnányi's Nursery 'concerto' sending up literally dozens of composers. But you pose a far greater conundrum: how can you make perfect left hand jumps like that when your conductor is an Adonis?

  • @parsifal3142 Thanks for the comment. I like you! True, S-S 5 is a ball buster, but Argerich wouldn't notice such negligible points. T 2 & 3 are very unjustly neglected.

  • @elgar34 Clearly a tongue-in-cheek comment? In a way she reminds me of Martha Argerich - fearless. This is one of the few major key arm-breaking concertos. The other one that comes to mind is Tchaikovsky No 2. Both unjustly neglected.

  • A fine performance- I would have preferred even more legato and rubato, particularly in the second movement. What a gorgeous piece- still not played enough in the concert hall. It is completely captivating! thank you!

  • Father forgive me, I think the conductor is most attractive. Lilya, for all her massive talent, is a bit matronly. Hard to imagine her letting loose in Egypt and enjoying what S-S did! About the time Oscar and Bosie were heading to Africa for diversions most delectable?

  • @elgar34 I agree! But I think it's a lot harder than Grieg or Schumann, at least in some aspects. Same with the 4th concerto.

  • Lilya is fabulous, why the heck isn't this piece in the standard repertoire? I'll take it over the Grieg or Schumann.
