According to Ken Murray ( commedian and Hollywood historian) this clip is Maurice Chevalier's screen test for his first Hollywood movie in 1929 "Innocents Of Paris" . In 1930 he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor, for two roles, The Love Parade (1929) and The Big Pond (1930). The Big Pond gave Chevalier his first big American hit song, "Livin' In the Sunlight - Lovin' In the Moonlight" with words and music by Al Lewis and Al Sherman, as well as "A New Kind of Love" (or "The Nightingales").[

Thank you for your comment. I was unaware of his personal problems.

by his own admission, he did not have a great voice. he had personality. amazingly, he was over 40 when he did this test but he came across like someone 10 years younger. the enthusiasm was part of his stage persona and was more dour in real life with fits of depression and suicidal tendencies at least twice.
