Chicago Racial Attack?

So,

I'm walking down Fairbanks in Chicago and I see a white guy on his bike shouting at a black woman in her car. She's screaming back and then as he tries to ride off she swerves in towards him to try and run him over, he then rides into a car park and she follows him at full speed again trying to knock him over.

He gets out of the car park, crosses the intersection on his bike and she follows, again she swerves to try and stop/run him over. She gets out and proceeds to try and hit him. At this point I feel this is purely an incident of road rage, nothing racial about it.

Then I see two black men who have nothing to do with this altercation run up, throw a drink at the guy and punch him in the face. He's bleeding now. Then a black guy who was at the intersection pulls up in his SUV and punches him in the face, gets back into his car and leaves.

So far my mind is telling me that these people stuck up for the woman in the car because of the color of her skin. Though he could've easily racially abused the lady, these strangers heard and decided to throw their own weight into the situation. The only thing that makes me think this isn't the case is that these guys were exactly where I was when she tried to run him over and they ran over and IMMEDIATELY punched him.
