http://www.Free.WebinarSecrets.net - What's the difference between a webcast and a webinar?
Here's how Webopedia defines Webinar:
Short for Web-based seminar, a presentation, lecture, workshop or seminar that is transmitted over the Web.
A key feature of a Webinar is its interactive elements — the ability to give, receive and discuss information. Contrast with Webcast, in which the data transmission is one way and does not allow interaction between the presenter and the audience.
AND... Here's how Webopedia defines Webcasting:
(v.) (1) To use the Internet to broadcast live or delayed audio and/or video transmissions, much like traditional television and radio broadcasts.
For example, a university may offer on-line courses in which the instructor Webcasts a pre-recorded or live lecture, or an enterprise may Webcast a press conference in lieu of or in addition to a conference call. Users typically must have the appropriate multimedia application in order to view a Webcast.
(2) To use push technology, to send Web-based information to an Internet user.
(n.) The data transmission that results from one of the above methods.
Netcast is another name for Webcast.
SO... In a nut shell...
The main difference between a webinar and a webcast is that a webinar is a live and interactive, online meeting, while a webcast is a "one to many" multi-media transmission, with limited interactivity, if any at all.
Webinars allow everyone in the online meeting room to participate and interact, just like in a hotel or classroom setting, except attendees login from anywhere in the world, just as long as they have a computer with an Internet connection.
Obviously, one of the the real advantages of hosting Webinars is that they allow you to reach a world-wide audience from the comfort of your home or office, while saving thousands of dollars in unnecessary hotel and travel costs.
Many people use Webinar and Webcast to describe the same thing, even though they are not the same, and this tends to confuse people. So I hope reading this has cleared up any confusion you may have had.
Just remember, a webinar is live and interactive, while a webcast is usually pre-recorded with little to no interactivity...
Does that make sense?... Good!
