Tree Mother call for
Universal peace and National Integration

NAMASTY, I am Urmila live in Kothapada village under Darada Gramapanchayata of Balasore district of Odisha. People call me Vrikshamaa as I love trees as mother love her son. Poverty is integral part of our life because my husband is handicap & I work under (NREGS) job card scheme to run my two member family. Looking at change of environment and increasing number of natural calamities like cyclone, floods and rapid increase of temper charge etc. one can find there is something wrong with nature and the cause of this is man made disasters, lack of will power to protect the nature by government and lack of awareness among citizen. If this will continue then total destruction or The Mahapralaya is not far.
Therefore to protect the humanity and to bring universal peace I start a small environmental campaign in 1992 from my thatched hut by starting an organization called Aperna Vrikshamaa Samiti. The members are from all section of society includes tribals, Muslims. We all go out to planting trees on riverbanks, in campuses of various educational institutions and other public places as well as road side. In fact we have planted more than a lakh trees around 75 villages that fall under ten Gramapanchayata surrounding Kothapada village within last 17 years and without taking any financial assistance. To continue my mission I sold out my jewellery, agricultural land and other assets too. I have no son. I love the tress as my sons. In fact I had started plantation only to overcome the sorrows of not having a son. But later it turned as a routine work. Daily morning I plant at least a tree and on special occasions it touches thousand. My daughters and village girls also tie Rakshis to a tree every year on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. These programme been published in many local and national print and electronic media like NDTV, Ajtak, Hindustan Times, Orissa Tribune and in many local news paper etc.
We have been doing many environmental awareness programmes in schools and collages. We have been organizing many Padayatras on world environment day around our block to spread the awareness among the citizen.
In 2008 the unprecedented flood washed away my Samiti house but unfortunately after many reminders to local administration nothing has been done to re-built the house, in fact they never thought to come for first survey. I believe A man with blood and flesh may turn anti-social. But not the trees those who dont do any thing for the society, they are not protectors. The environmental cause is above all the urgent need of the hour. We have to come together keeping cast, religion, nationalities, color of skin at bay to protect the mother earth. Through this we can achieve the universal peace and harmony. The government has to give more emphasis on protecting our nature then it gives on defiance, science, agriculture etc. As we believe Human is best of Creation and Service is best of Action. Hence service as equal as warship. The trees and creatures are the real God and the nature is temple for us. Like lord Siva drinks all poison the same way tree drinks all carbon dioxide which no less poison to us. When we plant tree the returns are certain if not fruits, but shadow and oxygen is inhabitable till it dies, which is require for our life to sustain.
I beg before you all sons of Earth be you Muslim, Hindu or Christian please came forward putting all differences at side join with us to carry forward the mission and make our MISSION GREEN success.
