At 2:24 you say the soundboard is now arched. How did that happen, I missed that. How much of an arch? is that the 1/8" you did in part 3?

I have been watching your video's and would like some advice about where to start... I am a novice .. so any information about tools... books ect.. would be helpful..maybe I need to practice smaller instruments just to get my feet wet.. It just seems like a satisfying as I like to work with my hands.

Not only should you have trimmed the sides to the correct thickness prior to bending them, perhaps you should also clamp them to the heel and neck blocks so you can attach the sides as one unit. This would also make it easier to kerf and level the sides and blocks all at the same time.
hi steve. thanks again for these videos. i'm really ecstatic about my project. i must have missed something but you said here that you needed the cork to rest the soundboard on because it's arched already. when did you talk about arching the soundboard? how do you do it? thanks

The soundboard is arched purely by the fact that the braces that you glue to it are arched. Once all the braces are glued in place, the soundboard takes on the arched shape. It's not much, only about 1/8 inch from center to side.

hi Steve..i have a question. In this video you sending the edge of sides on a flat(?) workboard. Next , you clamp and gluing the sides on a arched soundboard. Have sides and soundboard the same arched profile or not? Probably you explain it but i think i was lose some words...i'm Italian and my english is..ehm..terrible! :-)
Thank's, your videos are great..congratulation.

Thanks. The soundboard is arched, but the edges are suppose to be all in the same plane. Imagine if you turned a bowl over and took a slice through it. The bowl is still arched, but the edge is a straight line. I hope that helps.

I gather you used white glue for the sides, what do you use to remove the glue from your fingers, apart from your jeans.
Thanks for the series, sitting here with a cold watching the full series.

I actually use yellow carpenters glue for the sides. I use yellow glue for everything that I don't expect to ever take a part again - most of the guitar. I only use white glue on the bridge and fretboard. As for my fingers, it's water soluable so it washes off with water.
