@avesraggiana Don't forget Barbra Streisand's sparkling performances of "As If We never Said Good Bye" and "WIth one Look". I'm a Streisand fan, and even I am willing to admit that nothing else comes close to Close as Desmond.

@broadwaybeat No, she doesn’t, and in this role, as Norma Desmond, she doesn’t need it nor should she use it if she did. The Betty Buckleys, Elaine Pages and Patti Lupones and Petula Clarks blow Glenn Close into the weeds when it comes to Broadway singing, but not for one minute did any of those great singers convince me they were Norma Desmond. Glenn Close’s approach to playing Norma Desmond, of an actress who happens to be singing, works better for me than a singer who happens to be acting.
