  • O Blackfury...do u know who originated emocore?

  • Best you check Wikipedia for Emocore since I don't really know it

  • It's been so long since I heard this song (I think back in 2000?) Now is 2009. Wow! They sounded different from other bands back then. Possibly one of the originators of emo. Is it also true that a member of Lagwagon also a member of Foo Fighters?

  • Well I'm not into todays "Emo", just wanted to mention the term exists for more than 20 years now and even Lagwagon played Emocore (aka Melodycore) long before Bad Astronaut existed.

Nope no one is member of both bands, but Chris Shiflett toured with Lagwagon in the summer of 1996 and he's a member of Me First and the Gimme Gimmes which also features Joey Cape and Dave Raun of Lagwagon.

  • Thanks for the info! Wow..I didn't know all that. My former band in Indonesia used to consider ourselves a melodicore band. I didn't know it's the same as emocore! That means I was an emo kid!

My band didn't cover any of Lagwagon's songs though---we covered various bands from NOFX, the Ramones, Social Distortion, Hi-Standard, etc. I love MFatGG! I covered some of their reinterpretations with my other former band. I really miss playing in a band and doing gigs.

  • Nice selection of bands - besides *not* covering Lagwagon ;) You should find yourself a new band if you miss these times!

  • bad astrronaut are the best band of our generation

  • since when was lagwagon emo? pretty sure..they're a punk band...fatwreck doesn't sign emo bands... also ian mackaye said himself that they didn't create emo. that's all bullshit. although emo has been around for a while. it has changed a lot over the years...completely different than what it is now anyways. i never ever listen to emo...just too corporate and sorta gay. i love punk cuz it teaches you to think for yourself. and stresses DIY!!!!

  • 1 person is a -oh wait. . .

  • One Word = Derrick !!!!

  • Thanks for the info, dude!

I'm really off with the facts in the underground scene. NUFAN's guitar riffs and rhythm are so amazing---not easy and yet not as complicated as metal ones.

  • Wikipedia has a really good article on this. It turns out that the genre originated in Washington, DC by hardcore kids who were into Minor Threat, for example, and who were tired of the collective emotions. They wanted to delve into personal feelings, and thus emotional hardcore. The music was still raw, but interesting to note.

  • No, Chris Shiflett of the Foo Fighters used to be the guitarist of No use for a name

  • thanks.

  • thanks. Lagwagon was a bit out of our league I guess. lol! :) Yeah, i'm thinking about it. Thanks again.
