@godschildsk Those responsible for creating and broadcasting the cartoon are to blame, I don't think you should feel responsible nor blame the whole country.
-
@yijern Sorry, but because it's a cartoon, it makes it worse.

To all those who say this is OK, you're wrong, it is not by any stretch, it clearly goes beyond what's acceptable. Stupid African characters are OK, but the bone in the nose is NOT. Tribal half clad and bare footed characters are OK, but portraying them as stupid and backward too is NOT. Some stereotypes, as annoying a they might be, are positive, neutral at worst, but if you must use a distinctly negative stereotype, you have to balance it to void the negative by balancing with good attributes.

@CUTEPRINCESS208 Not always. I grew up with shows that did the same thing, but I'm not a racist. It's the way the parents raise a child that decides wether a child becomes racist or not. Sure, this show isn't thinking that well about what the cultures are really like, but basically any cartoon does the same thing.

I don't really see the big point with this. I mean, I get that black-face is racist, but tbh, I don't see it with this. There's tons of kid's show that depict certain cultures that way. I could be mad because every time they mention the Netherlands you see blond people wearing clogs and windmills all over the place, cos that's not true and putting us in boxes as well.
Tbh, I don't think that this kid's show is doing anything wrong, sure, they might be a bit ignorant, but which kid's show isn't?

I'm not siding anyone here but I think it's also the fault of other cartoons and other documentaries. I rarely see shows that shows the whole Africa...
I always see the shows feature the places in Africa that are not developed or somehow, rural places... so I think that's one of the things that made them (Koreans) ignorant and it's somehow our job to tell them they're wrong... but let's do it in a nice manner and not bash them and stuff... Not all of them are like this after all.
-
@yijern Um no. Little kids watch this. They take some knowledge from this. And if they grow up thinking Africans are like this then Korea will continue to be ignorant.
Eatyourkimchi brought me here. And yes, this is despicable.
