I dont see why Culture would prevent heroes from countries outside of America from wearing bright Colours. I mean take for example Europe, there is a long history of Knights and tales of courage and heroism.

@TheCasioCrusader I didnit' get that example from our good friend BHUdude, b/c to me Small ville uses costumes more than ANY superhero adaptation in media. I mean look at the Justice League and some of the bad guys too. He's right though, Marvel and DC are basically afraid of costumes. I think some of them just dont' translate to film. I mean could you picture Wolverine in FULL costume, mask and all?? The mask would look like a bad rip off the lovechild of Batman&Catman's mask lol. *

lets talk Villains too.Scarecrow's mask looke FINE (great new-ish interpretation!) BUT no 'suit' give the guy the brown raggedy scarcrow getup with the rope. I mean whats unrealistic about that MAJOR possible TDKR SPOILER ahead, CAUTION - if Nolan can basically use the Lazerus pit on film for the end of his trilogy then YEAH I think Scarcrow can use a costume. Im SO sick of villains in 3piece suits like they are S&K models. I THINK 'Heroes' pissed on costumes in pop culture, THATS part of it!

@kakuman1995 But he is not a new character.

Well mARVEL Didnt Change Thor!!

really have you ever seen captain britan HEE wears a a costume

I think that there are so many costumed characters that they have a hard time coming up with costumes that might infringe on another characters costume. It's a copyright thing, for the most part (I think).

@blowshimselfupdude well, he just changed the suit again; now its some red leather jacket with the symbol on the chest. However, he actually has the supersuit in the Fortress of Solitude! what a freaking tease!

You got some great points here bro.
I just feel like this: If you had God-like powers you should stand out. If you had those powers and were an agent of the law in some way and you wanted people to instantly see that, you'd wear a costume with authoritative colors.
As far as marvel's issue with costumes, it's simple: they are and have been for a while, the trendy company. They make "relatable" characters not Icons. Every time
a fad comes along, guess who'll jump on it? DC seems to be opposite.
Smallville's starting to get better in the costume department. Season 9 FTW!!!

I know...but I can't decide, speaking of the picture, if The Mad Hatter is portraid in Chris Nolan's 3rd Batman, how do you think in your opinion he should wear or look like? I'm thinking since they are based on dark reality obviously, I think he should wear a fancy suit wearing a top hat.

I'd like to se him in a beat up and mixmatched suit and a top hat.

well not all the heros in Marvel are wearing black. I still see characters wearing costumes like Avengers the intiative for example.

The ones that already had costumes. But baring Sentry and Ronin most new characters just wear a long coat.
