More likely then not, the pigs died of smoke inhalation long before the fire reached them. Shit happens. If you are someone who eats meat, then you obviously have no problem in eating the meat, then you shouldn't piss and moan about how they're raised and kept.

you people are idiots... once peta puts people to work with a full time job they can start saying something.. save the bull its a tragic accident key word accident. No one intends for these sows and piglets to get injured nor do the people that work in the barns harm the animals.

jesus christ..... this cannot be happening.... cut out meat - dont encourage this awful industry.

what i want to know is, were any humans in the building at the time? if so are they ok? i used to work in a hog barn here in iowa and the roof collapsed during the winter of 09-10 because of all the weight from the snow that had piled up during the snowstorms luckily the collapse was only covering an area in a breeding area 20 crates long by 8 crates wide. almost all of the pigs were rescued and no one was in the area so nobody was hurt.

No humans were in the building - they were out on lunch.
It's amazing that most of the pigs were rescued in your Iowa barn. Here, there's no effort to remove the pigs at all. Almost all of our pig barn fires have 100% mortality.
