  • Terrific! Sounds very Japanese, but cool that you can load your own samples to give it your own sound (or make it sound even more Japanese if you like I suppose).

  • Great review! Thanks very much, I really hope the price comes down for version 2!

  • what about the fact that is DOES NOT even PLAY IN TIME :)

add more than 5 layers and it SLOWS DOWN.

    pretty useless.

  • Does the midi port mean you can plug in a synth and sequence it, and stuff like that? I presume the in-built synth sounds wouldn't exactly be spectacular...

  • The visual aspect of this is not for hi-res bragging rights, just functions as part of the operation. You use this by itself or connected to other midi gear. When linked to simple analog synth boxes, this thing can really blow your mind. It really could be just a toy, but anyone with a tiny bit of creativity will use this as any other instrument. Load more samples (SD card) and you've got something as unique as your DNA. Not a simple gizmo, a real musical device here :)

  • I really want to find a reason to save up for one , but i cant. It really just looks like a gimmic

  • Very good review.

  • Seems like a more interactive version of the Rm1x. Doesn't seem practical for most music applications, but looks like you could spend a fun evening with this and a nice bag of weed.

  • i don't understan why someone should use it?

the visual kinda siynestesic stuff could be usable, but the resolution is low, so i don't understand it.

  • This could be a serious thing IF someone would use it professionally for e.g. live shows.

Unfortunately it seems only sequencing noobs or "omfg im gonna review&ebay it" morons got some of these yet to show off some shiny bling toy! Can't wait to see producing DJs play their arrangements live on that thing instead from vinyls/prerecorded audiofiles or cds!

  • Which came first....the Tenori-on or the monome?

  • They cost less than a good guitar, but a guitar can't create as many sounds as a computer either.

    It's about fun.
