Has anyone tried a high speed memory card to see if that would improve writing speed of the P7000. The Panny LX5 is a nice camera but lacks a viewfinder which can make it difficult to compose a picture on bright sunny days with the sun behind you.

I bought this camera a couple weeks ago. While image and video quality are great, and it's awesome to be able to optically zoom while shooting video (which the G12 doesn't offer), it's just really laggy with menus and writing speed. It gets annoying. *sigh*. It's a good camera. I don't know, maybe they're going to release another firmware or something? Honestly the speed is the only thing that bothers me - I feel like I'm forever waiting for a menu to open or close, or an image to write.

I saved up the whole year and when I bought this camera after 100 shots, the lens cap didnt open, it cant focus, the settings are so sluggish, its very unpredictable, I really wasted my money, it has so mnay problems, now that I sent for warranty, they say I have to pay 300 dollars, the camera costed me 500 dollars and it was a piece of junk from the beginning and now I have to pay another 300?!........and I paid like 100 dollar to extend the warranty.......but they dont seem to bedoinganything

I love my Nikon dslrs but i'm frrreaked by how nikon are just canon- chasing with this. i could live with the general looks being g12-like where it serves functionality but pur-lease NOT that nasty canon control dial thing on the back. at least give it front and back dials like a nikon dslr! tbh this makes me want to buy an lx5 or a ricoh. (I obv can't buy a canon as i don't posess any tattoos or a burberry baseball cap).

P7000 has time-lapse ability, G12 no

P7000 7x zoom, G12 5x

P7000 has CLS for easy control & support of unlimited off camera flashes. G12 no support of off camera flash nor supports a commander

P7000 has stereo mic in, G12 no

G12 has rotatable screen, P7000 no

P7000 has slower menus and writing files

The above puts the P7000 ahead. The P7000 supporting CLS seals the deal IMHO (P7000 restricts to one group and camera can't act as commander).
