The Party at the Palace was a pop concert held in London in 2002. The event was in commemoration of the Golden Jubilee of Elizabeth II held over the Golden Jubilee Weekend 1 -4 June 2002. The concert itself was held at Buckingham Palace Garden on 3 June 2002. It was the pop equivalent of the Prom at the Palace, a classical music event. The concert was held at the gardens of Buckingham Palace Garden as part of the Golden Jubilee. The event was touted as the greatest concert in Britain since Live Aid or possibly ever. Tickets to the event were determined by a lottery. 12,000 people attended the concert. An estimated 1 million people watched outside the Palace in The Mall and around the Queen Victoria Memorial, and 200 million on television. The concert included performances of many hit songs from the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. The event was the culmination of a national day of partying. The BBC Music Live Festival also occurred on the day. At 1 o'clock towns across the United Kingdom had bands play "All You Need Is Love" before church bells were rung around the country.

  • Want Brian May to make the same trick on this year's Queen's Anniversary Celebration! And at the opening of the Olympic Games of course ))

  • @MrGuitarPrayer As far as I know there's no plan for Brian or Roger to take part in this year's Anniversary. I hope ypu enjoyed watching Bri and Kerry whilst San Remo 2012 Duets. :) You can find the video out of Rai 1 coverage either from Brian's website trying Brian and Kerry tags on youtube. :) Cheers.

  • just a question.. why is Sir Elton John the only artist performing inside Buckingham Palace?

  • @waiyen367 Because of the fact it was a huge event there was not enough room for all artists on the stages. As you see there were two out there outside the Palace and secondly Sir Elton John had a lot of stuff around him with his grand piano in the centre. Thanks to indoor performance the performance was fuller and majestic in a way - just in respect of the atmosphere and the spirit. Even Dr Brian May was surprised when they agreed to let him go in and play from the roof.

  • @waiyen367 Dr Brian May's been asked what his view would be and he said going out of the highest point would be brilliant and they said there wouldn't be any problems in that, so probably Sir Elton John's idea came some time later, and thanks to that we could be able to see what we saw and all can watch. Enjoy. Cheers, :)

  • OH AND NO AUTOTUNE IN SIGHT. TAKE NOTE ALL YOU WANNABES.

  • @zapkvr That's nice you put your opinion in capitals as your view could be seen better. Well, to me all participants did show their perfection and there was no place for pretending or lip-miming. :) To them it was real honour and privilege to perform for the audience and Royal Family members. Do you think any of them could be proud of using auto-tunes etc.? I know there was nothing like that and rehearsals took some time to make this night the night to remember. Brilliant crew made it happen. :)

  • cant wait for the diamond jubilee, its gonna be great, god save the Queen :D

  • @waiyen367 Better question: Why DoesEric Clapton have the Sir title?:)

  • This brings back soo many good memories, even modern pop groups like SClub7 didnt use auto-tune. Music these days is sooo awful!! it annoys me so much!!!!

  • This is one of the greatest things I have found on Youtube.

  • I was never a fan of Paul McCartney's "Long and Winding Road" but that Irish group changed my mind

  • can some one explain what that black dot is up in the sky about 46 seconds into the video.

Its to high to be a street lamp.

It could of been helicopter but at this case I consider it to be a UFO at this moment in time.

  • Awesome, Queen on stage with Phil Collins as backup drummer!

  • Thank you so much, it was wounderful to watch again. Can;t wait to see what Great Britain has in store for us this year 2012!!! I so want to be in the UK this year. Not an easy thing to do from Australia...
