Two train traffic on the ÖGEG Steyrtal museum line between Steyr and Grünburg with steamers 298.102 (original Steyrtalbahn No. 2 "Sierning") built in 1888 and 298.52 from 1898 in charge. In the evening 298.102 got stuck at the entrance to Steyr station on the wet and steep grade providing quite a sound treat during the effort to get the heavy train rolling. There are few things more beautiful than steam/light effects in a crisp winter night! :-)

  • I didn't know about this operation. Where is it in relation to Vienna? Great video. Thanks.

  • Hi!

    Thanks!

Steyr is in Upper Austria, between Linz and Vienna, 186 km by rail from Vienna via St. Valentin.

    Greetings,

  • Nice Video!

  • Bit questionable connecting the brake pipe first, before coupling the loco up. If the loco was to move forward unexpectedly, it could easily rip the brake pipe off, and that would be embarrassing, at the very least.

  • Very nice video.

    Thanks.

    Watch my dutch train movies!

  • Great video indeed, and the U class engine is still one of the cutest coffee mills of them all. Definitely a must-visit next year!
