@Aussiemarco I don't agree entirely on that point. This calling Australia ' the arse-end of the earth" was Keating's treachery. Since High School, I've met and worked with drongoes like those characters in "Weird Mob" every day of week, and at times have probably been one of them !

Greer, Humphries, et al. left Oz only to further their careers; not because they couldn't stand the 'throw-offs" here.

Times have changed because those Aussies have all died off or are hidden away in Aged Care.

@BastardfromtheBush Well, back in the 1960's Australia was the absolute arsehole of the universe. Which is why Barry Humphries, Rolf Harris, Germain Greer, Clive James, Robert Hughes, Helen Reddy and Olivia N.J. all left. Thank god times have changed since then.

Wow! 30 cents for a taxi from Circular Quay to the Cross. Thems was the days! And I loved the St George Valiant taxi, complete with rear wheel covers. Awesome!

After tjat Taxi Driver who takes Nino to the Cross, those cops at Circular Quay, that Newsboy at Chifley Square and that Sydney-sider who gives Graham Kennedy directions in Martin Place, they ought to have caledl this film, "They're a Rude, Bloody-minded Ratbag Mob." What a culture shock it must have been for any immigrant who arrived in Sydney in those years and run into those bastards. Good thing they showed some genuinely friendly Aussies at the old 'Marble Bar' and that pub at Punchbowl.
