this is Grand Avenue in Waukesha, Wisconsin. this spot has really changed over the past 25 years i've lived here. i moved here in 1985, and i've visited this area many times.

in the beginning you'll see some dorms. they're owned by Carroll University, a local college here in Waukesha. this spot here is owned by the school.

this spot at one time was home to a shopping center. there use to be frozen pizza place, 31 Flavors (aka Baskin-Robbins), Moyers Bakery. Moyers was the heart of the shopping center. when i was little, my Aunt worked there, and i would get free samples of cakes and doughnuts. oh such great memories there. the site and this block here has since been bought out by Carroll University. the field you see use to be homes. they bought them out too.

you'll also see railroad crossing here. it's owned by Canadian National and Wisconsin Southern railroad. it use to be own by Wisconsin Central, Soo-Line, and once was part of Milwaukee and Madison railroad. you'll see a former train station turned restaurant.

you'll also see a Taco John's. i love their food. Central Middle School, my brother went there. in the background you'll hear morning commuters, Friday morning tornado siren (runs May - Sept. every Friday morning at 9:30am). you'll also hear nice church music coming from St. Luke's Lutheran.

then you'll see my destination stop, the Waukesha Public Library. i go here all the time. you can too. just make sure you have a valid and up to date library card.

  • St. Luke's play music every hour on the hour! And I loved sitting in FACE class in middle school, about 6 years ago already, and they would play at 9 am. Love those bells!! Love (and miss) that church now that i'm in college out of state

  • @reneegram4 there's about three others that also play about the same time. two over on East Avenue and Main Street, the second on East and Arcadian Avenue. the third is over on Wisconsin Avenue and Broadway.

i too love hearing them. there's a few others that also play music.

  • one of the dorm buildings just got built recently.

  • @FGelevators yes. it actually started this past winter. they're just about ready to open and ready for new occupants, and retail stores to come in and open.

  • @emailcircular oh thanks. i couldn't for the life of me remember how to spell, "Meuer's". it's been so long since it closed down. my aunt used to work there many years ago. i moved here in 1985. my aunt, mom, brother and sister and i would go there all the time. my uncles too. there was a side with cakes and donuts. I'd always get free samples. those were good.
