Our beloved Karita rehearses her Duet with Gwyneth Jones' Ortrud. Karita was just lovely in this production... I feel not the same with the now uncontrolled & even awful voice of Jone's (as awful as her character ???)

  • There's always malicious people with no respect that will boo anyone.

Narrowmindedness is much more common than appreciation and the ability to recognise greatness.... Gwyneth gave us unique moments and we will always be greatful to her.

  • I agree with you Castradivo81. Dame Gwyneth Jones is still extraordinary!

  • TRANSLATION: ELSA (friendly) Enter here with me! Let me teach you to know the sweet bliss of true devotion! Turn then to the belief that there is a happiness without regret! ORTRUD (aside) Ha! This pride shall help me fight her devotion! Against this I shall turn my weapons, her arrogance will cause her to repent!
  • Jones no me gusta en este rol.

  • shouldn't happen in paris, but sometimes people boo "evil role" just out of ... too into the drama

  • Dame G J is my favourite Ortrud - fantastically malevolent and dangerous in her Kubelik recording: she uses her voice to tremendous effect in this role. Who do you want in this role: a lyric soprano?

  • Dame Gwyneth may be extraordinary, but she was booed at the performances; the music is sublime and I can't imagine that even the most devoted fan of the kunst diva can enjoy her singing especially when pitted next to a glorious Mattila

  • I happen to love Dame Gwyneth Jones' voice. An artist of her caliber should be allowed passage when nature has taken its course on a voice. She's getting older which accounts for the wobble which I find attractive.
