  • @Bigroberto2008 It could be a vacuum leak, i found that on a 98 ga once long ago. it had 233046 miles on it though lol. And with the new car, it all depends on how much time and work you wanna put into it. Ive been workin on gas for a while now, i love them. only problem i have with it is replacing the intake gaskets, jut takes a while and you gotta remember where everything goes back on. lol

  • @Bigroberto2008 Hm, ive only once ever heard of the hissing and ive been working on grand ams for almost a year (buying, fixing, and selling im only 15 lol) The hissing may be a vacuum leak. i did find a vacuum leak in a 99 ga long time ago. although i dont rememeber exactly what it was, it was a dealer part only and took FOREVER to find. With the new car it all depends on how much work you want to put into it. Right now im working on a 96 and im gonna keep it till i finish highschool.

  • @toofst911 thanks man,i have replaced the entire cooling system in this car such as waterpump, thermostat, radiator and a flush, and temp sensor, and the electric fan works fine too, so its either the hoses thats messin up or the gasket... cuz in winter last year no problem it ran like a new. But in the summer needle gets pretty up there, and recently i noticed after a long hot drive in the city i hear a hissing sound from the engine...got any idea what that might be.....i swear i need a new car

  • @Bigroberto2008 Sooo, there fore it MAY be your problem. But not sure, it was very famous on the 96-98 grand ams, no idea bout the newer ones.

  • @Bigroberto2008 Well, it very well may, or very well may not. I;m not exactly sure. The intake gaskets are a well known problem on that car especially after much use, they will fail due to the aluminum on one side of the gasket, and a different metal on the other side. They expand and contract at different times and rates, causing harm on the gasket, and also causing the engine to leak antifreeze, replacing the gasket fixes the problem.

  • @toofst911 hey does the intake gaskets have something to do with overheating, i haven't had mine done on mines since i bought it......

  • Have you replaced the intake gaskets on your car? Im currently doing that right now. Its a pain in the ASS

  • @randomness1845 eh, theres the 3800, then theres the 3.4 DOHC... well... mine roars quite nicely for being stock ^_^

  • now lets stick a 3800 series 2 behind those low gears in that light grand am! now thats a beastly hot rod v6. e beating stock fox bodies

  • i think you can use one out of a equinox.
