According to the historian Kang Ge Wu and Master Liu Jingru, originally there were only 3 palm changes. In my opinion, the art was watered down when the other 5 palm changes were added. The first three changes represent 3 different change principles. Vertical, Horizontal and spiral. Current Bagua practitioners focus too much on the techniques and not the principals. That is why we will never reach the excellence achieved by the masters in the old days. Less is more. Cheers!
