This is just a lovely cover.
Johnny Flynn's new album has an interpretation of this song. Not a cover, mind you, just a personal response to the sometimes inaudible words of an old 78. It's also rather lovely, though I would recommend the solo version. Much more delicate.

nice. I recently undertook the exercise of trying to transcribe the words to this song. I also challenged my parents, who grew up in Alabama. There's some totally unintelligible stuff in there. After a couple of weeks with a few lines still not settled, I gave in and did the search, saw the thread from a couple years ago, it led me here. I enjoy your version. thanks.
