Guess composer Richard Rodgers liked what he heard - at the end of his life - when he listened to Geoff Love's (= Manuel) superbly arranged version of his great 1932 hitsong "Lover". Nearly 50 years after it's publication - for the movie "Love me tonight" which starred Maurice Chevalier and Jeannette McDonald - Geoff Love provides the song with a "breath of fresh air" - making full use of two of the main ingredients of a "Manuel" recording : the strings and the chorus. Though the song (despite it's title) originally was not meant to be "a romantic ballad" that's exactly what it becomes 'in the hands of master arranger Love'. From the 1978 album "The magic of Manuel" here's ......... Love with "Lover" ;-) (couldn't resist the urge to write it that way ;-) ..... Enjoy.

This is really nice, Walter! The rhythm reminds me of Edmundo Ros & Pepé Jaramillo, two musicians I admire greatly. Added this to My geoff Love playlist. You & Kevin are burning up the 'net with Manuel lately - good show!
My 750 music playlists are a warehouse for great music like the tunes you post. They're arranged by artist (450 lists), 100 lists by genre, & lists for every year since 1900. It's a century of music set to play like your own personal time machine, thanks to you, Walter! chuck
