  • Simply beautiful

  • @lionelmok thank you ;-)

    it´s one of my all-time-favourites.

  • Simply a wonderful song, I think :o)

It exists in Danish as well (entitled "En sang om sorg og glæde" and performed by Grethe and Jørgen Ingmann) - wonder if it can be found in Italian too :o)

  • @2007danman thank you for your comment!

you are right... this is simply one of the best songs from middle of the road.

there are many versions from agnetha, nana mouskouri, toni willé and the danish duo g. & j. ingmann.

  • this is earworm music.... I can't seem to get rid of it, now, always humming it....

  • @Planet266 glad you like it ;-)

    thank you for your feedback!

  • @tjvanpopta thank you for your feedback!

"UNION SILVER" is one of those underrated songs...

not so catchy and typically for MIDDLE OF THE ROAD,

    but very nice.

    greetings rudi

  • I've heard the Agnetha Fältskog version of this song ("A Song of Sadness and Happiness"), which I really liked, so I wanted to hear the original version -- and I like it even better! The refrain (chorus) is so beautifully done, it gives me chills every time I hear it :-) The album that this song is on is nearly impossible to find in the US; thank you for posting it!

  • @dunbunter

Well, I found the French version by Nana Mouskouri, but who sings the Italian version?

  • @schlagerhansi Nope, I was a little bit wrong there. It's an italian/english song. Music by two italian musicians Giosy Capuano and Mario Capuano and lyrics Mike Shepstone. Middle of the Road was first recording it and it's the original. The versions in italian and french is covers named "Union Silver".

  • @dunbunter

could you tell us the title of the french, and italian versions, please?

  • @Planet266

Glad you like it - Still one of my favourites and I wrote the lyrics.

    Mike Shepstone

  • @puchoinger "En sång om sorg och glädje" is like this one originally an italian song and covered also in french. MoR released their version 1973.

  • @HeartRover57 thanks a lot :)

  • @mears89 thanks a lot you're too kind...

  • @puchoinger yep if you look at the credits(songwriters) youll notice that it was written by the same duo who wrote most of the bands hits.Easy way of telling its their original,so Agnetha's version is a cover.Mind you Agnethas version is very good as well.

  • @gaygnol thank you! i didn,t know that. i just watched it on you tube. very nice.

also the swedish version from agnetha faltskog. But for me is the best version is

    from middle of the road.

  • @HeartRover57 Yep youre right i thought i was a MOTR composition and when i looked at the credits it indeed was written by the songwriters who wrote most of their songs so it must be a MOTR original.Surely one of their best songs.

  • A French version was recorded by NANA MOUSKOURI ni vivre ni mourir by the Summer of 1973.

  • Hallo Rudi,

  • @puchoinger

this song is from 1972 and i think, agnetha makes a copy from union silver.

  • Can some tell me what's the date of this song? is this an english vertion on

En Sång Om Sörg Och Gladje from Agnetha Fältskog from ABBA? or Agnetha made a Swedish vertion of this song? what's the deal here?

  • Send my regards to her and Ken, he's a lovely drummer.
