The Hospital Ward

I got the concept for this movie one night when I was trying to fall asleep - I saw this one room in the Greenlawn mansion set up like a hospital ward with a nurse's desk at the head of the room, and after frantically writing the idea down before falling asleep, a story unravelled from that image.

I made this film as a class assignment, and it was by far the most challenging film I've yet undertaken, not only because of the more elaborate set locations and costumes, but also because we were working with 16 mm film stock instead of digital video - which means that nothing on the camera is automatic; it's all manual. That was tricky.

The film uses two songs composed by James Newton Howard: "Noah Visits" and "Those We Don't Speak Of."

Thanks so much to my class partner, Krissy, and to everyone - and it was a lot of people - who helped to make this movie. I hope you all enjoy it as much as we've enjoyed making it.
