the longer you use it the bigger the chance that dark magic will rip into the reality and blow you to pieces, doing immense damage, so your playing a guessing game do you keep blowing things up and run the risk of blowing myself up?

@F1N1SHEDD I think it's because he was trying to relate it to the tabletop sorcs, where your sorc blowing herself up is a very real possibility. The mechanic is crossed over into this game, but it's toned down, because if you miscast in this game and are (for example) never able to cast spells again that would kinda suck...
