@INbredMonarchy LOL I'll give you that:P although 500 Lb's of surprise attack from behind would be, if not painful, very uncomfortable:P

Hilarious. Bogus. Phony. LMAO.

Has anyone tried this technique in a real fight or seen it work?

This is a dumb comment.

@glaurungdragon1 -"Forms are like doing shadow boxing"
I disagree. Shadow boxing has no preset forms. It should flow freely. As I said before, forms arise from the movements..when you shadowbox, you try to maintain good form and proper posture when you move and punch making sure all connections are present...but the shadowboxing itself is not choreographed and has no preset form.
"But forms are a way to practice too when you don't have someone around." ---yes, that is called Kata or Forms.

@matreyia Forms are like doing shadow boxing or a coreographed fight, that teaches you techniques, balance, corrects the stance, etc. Of course nothing can replace, heavy bags, speed bags. practicing with a partner, sparring and fighting... But forms are a way to practice too when you don't have someone around. And they were invented to pass on the entire style(s) to others. Applications of any form may vary from instructors and that's the beauty on them. Greetings from Mexico.

@codexdelux Ya that would suck, but if they were twice my weight they probably couldn't give chase lol. (I'm 250-ish)

@matreyia unfortunately Youtube will not give me the chance ot give you two thumbs up:P
But yeah, dead on man. and not to mention that even training principles will not make much of a difference unless you've been in a good 10-15 fights (real life ones) before you actually manage to keep your cool enough to use them. and not just flail your arms around like a panicking monkey. I liked what the person in the video was hinting at with the center line principle though:)

@INbredMonarchy Also, in many fighting sports there are tons of moves that have been taken out so the fight will last longer. ever gone to a boxing match where someone is knocked out after 20 seconds? not a crowd please'r. As you imply, there's a huge difference between Sports entertainment, and a surprise attack by three assailants with baseball bats and twice your weight.

@zakquack Very true, I don't think the eye gouging and ball bashing need to be trained, but I do think that if I can't subdue an attacker with my strength or my shabby skills, I need to keep these in the front of my mind. Weapons are the ultimate. Any real martial artist will eventually arrive at this conclusion. Weapons are the only way to guarantee an advantage in any situation. I prefer guns and knives, but whatever works. I think any style of training can be beneficial.
@HYBRIDCOMBATIVES Everyone is mortal, therefore everyone is average. If nothing was "too lethal for competition" then there would be no rules in competition. Groin shots, biting, eye gouging, strikes to the throat, and real weaponry are not allowed in competitions for many reasons. I'm sure you know why. We all enjoy a good fight, but we don't want to see anyone dead in the ring. However, if my life is in danger, these rules do not apply to me. There is no Hercules or Superman.
