St Laurence O'Toole Pipe Band, under Pipe Major Terry Tully, playing their medley at the World Pipe Band Championships held at Glasgow Green on 14 August 2010.

The medley is preceded by the announcement of the World Grade One Champions for 2010. To skip this go to 00:51.

The tunes being played are The Big Yin, Kenny Gilles of Portalong, Jimmy Ward's, The Rose, Buntata's Sgadan, Sabhal Mor Astaig, The Ferryman, The Blonde Haired Maid, and a reprise of The Ferryman.

The band pretty much swept the boards winning the Grade One Drumming Championship, and being placed first in the March, Strathspey and Reel (MSR) and the Medley as well as taking the World Grade One Championship. The MSR drawn on the day was the same as won the band the European Championships two weeks previously in Belfast (see separate video).

Warmest congratulations to the band on their achievements in 2010, their centenary year. This was a tough competition; the standard of playing in the Grade One competition this year was as high as I can remember it.

  • Didn't know Jesus played pipes...

  • @HappySadFace1997100 I don't know if he did ... but the angels certainly did. If you have a look around medieval and renaissance churches you'll find lots of paintings and carvings showing angels playing bagpipes.
