I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kenya. I can certainly emphasize what these people. I used to eat much of the same food they showed on the clip. These price increases are incredible and very difficult on the very poor. Much of these prices increases seem to be related to global economic forces, which is beyond the control of these people who are among the poor of the poor. I think what's hard for Americans to fathom is that this how more than 80% of the world lives.

Jesus effing Christ!!! One meal a day?!?!?! I get hungry on three meals a day! I thought the economy here was bad! (Yes, I live in the US, please don't equate me to the average narcissistic simpleton). Anyway, this gave me some shocking insight. I extremely difficult to shock.

i cant agree ,its not our greed ,the first lady was on her land ,she should rejoice at higher prices cos she is a producer of food, the reason she isnt is because lack of water ,there is no infrustruture ,resovoirs should collect water in rainy seasons and deliver it to farms in dry seasons ,higher yealds will result in higher standards of living

It's sad to see parents having to starve in order to feed their kids. I wonder if these impoverished nations will ever get better. Perhaps it is not just compassion from outsiders that they need, but an end to corruption in their countries and family planning education.

For the most part, I would have to agree.

Oh you forgot the part of history where the "white man" came and took everything even the people! Most of the governments in Africa are puppets of the west. Does that answer your question you stupid stupid stupid moron. We don't need to help them but possibly if we stopped raping them. Just possibly if we stopped siphoning off every natural resource they have. Then they could fix there own problems.

oh my, i had no idea! my life is so sheltered and i am so egocentric, such as the rest of the well-off, wealthy countries. The US should take care of this...but our economy is going down, possibly into a depression and these countries are MUCH worse. Why focus on ur country when others are worse off? why eat when others are starving? why spend money on Crap like abercrombie and Holister(sweatshops produce the clothing) when other less fortunate people barely have a stitch to wear?
