Spacedog's live rendition of My Death (Jacques Brel). Arranged for vocals, percussion, samples, theremin and robotic ventriloquist's dummy. The images are created by Spacedog's own Nipkow disk - as used on Baird's original televisor c1925.

This was recorded live, in one take, at Televisor, Spacedog's live music and robotics show at the Brunswick Theatre, Brighton Festival Fringe, May 2011.
The dummy, Hugo, bears a remarkable resemblance to Stooky Bill, Baird's ventriloquial sidekick who appeared on the second ever Televisor image, c1925.

  • @spugintrntl It varies - in this track, it's a recording of a male voice which I've pitch shifted and changed to make it more Hugo-tastic. He can also respond to a live feed from a mic off-stage. And he was supposed to be following the 'who is this?' in the middle of the song (spoken by Jenny the vocalist and processed live). But I forgot to switch on his mouth in time. Ooops!

  • Is Hugo's voice pre-recorded, or is it synthesized somehow?
