its a bit loud my old tc used to sound like that but my pi is quiet as a mouse

As a rover Jaguar Triumph Mechanich I could make these much quieter. the first trick is to get a tight 10 thou on the tappets, tight you should just about be able to move the feelers. the start up noise is typically the worn thrust washr at front allowing the crank to shunt when the Starter throws it. its generally not a problem though as the oil pressure rises it levels out. . Balance the carbs and set them to the highest rev's then richen two flats the engine will tick then not knock

This class of engine always knocks a bit on first start up until the oil pressure builds: it's an oil filter design issue - the OE paper filter has no anti-drain valve. No big deal, just don't hoof it during the first couple of seconds. Rimmers will sell you an oil filter adapter that allows you to fit a spin-on filter with an anti-drain valve that makes it go away.

if u have a 4 cylinder make sure to check on the tappets..i think its loose

The engine sounds fine once it's running, may be that adjusting the tappets would do it some good, but as others have said, it knocks badly at startup, it needs bearings and thrust washers replacing.
I see that this video was uploaded a while ago... how has it gone since, I imagine that you've done somthing with it, or sold it?

Try a bit heavier oil, but see that the oil light goes out no later than it does now.
Set tappets up to nick.
If this changes nothing..then time to rebuild.

Probably sorted/sold/whatever now but this car definately has the typical worn 2000/2.5 death rattle on startup, big ends being dry until oil press rises. Often orig problem is thrust washers falling out rear of crank. You can usually tell by the clutch feeling weird &/or by levering the crank pulley in & out checking for play. Unsorted it'll kill the crank & block in time.
This car sounds to me also as if its running "off" on at least one (or two) cyls

the its bottom end has gone my 2.5 pi made the same nosie its the bottom end shells need replaceing

Are these the cars having two overdrives=a six speed gearbox.Need to take the car on the motorway then to make it quieter.

Hey it sounds fine to me. those alloy rocker covers make them sound tappety mate. i'd set the rockers if your woried!
I have a 1967 2000 too, and all i have to say
is that this is not the normal 2000 noise.

I have to say after listening again to this video the audio isn't actually too clever. Theres a lot of hiss which doesn't help..

When you first start it, I notice that the oil light takes a short while to go out and there is a bottom end knock for a very short while. Make sure that there's enough oil and that it's <6000 miles old.

Yes you're not wrong... The car is fitted with an aftermarket spin on oil filter, but it still knocks slightly for the first second or so after fire up. Should get round to changing the filter and oil shortly. First the small matter of an imminent MOT!!
