Compass Learning Odyssey 2011 - 07 - Assigning "Assignments" from the Assignment Archive

Smurfing Smurfs from the Smurf Smurf'chive?? Whuh? Ok--maybe it seems to be alliteration overkill, but it does make sense -- trust me.

Compass refers to customized curriculum as "Assignments" which can be saved in your private (or our school's shared) course library known as the "Assignment Archive." Assignments in our district's Archive allow students to take each assessment (formatives = Compass Quizzes and summatives = Compass Tests) multiple times for a total of three attempts. Unfortunately, Compass Odyssey 2011 still uses traditional grading system conventions such as averaging and percentages vs. Standards Based Grading systems and to date there is still no way to manipulate this functionality for a school district's grading needs.




Assigning the Assignments from our Archive will halt the student in that instuctional area of their course after three unsuccessful attempts and will promt the student to contact the teacher after seeing the Progress Alert on their screen. Time to activate the human for some additional RtI and goal setting. Follow the tutorial for more details.

Maybe you need to give your 10th Grade science student a bit of 9th Grade science content remediation? Then you'll need to assign Archived curriculum so that the student user can assess more than one science course.
