Undersprawl

Undersprawl is the result of a term-long collaborative, interdisciplinary experiment between Patrick Phillips and Shannon Kearns. Two upper-year students at the Ontario College of Art & Design, Patrick and Shannon undertook a reciprocal adventure of exchanged ideas and correspodence through drawing, painting and time-based media.

Finally developed into the animated presentation viewable here, Undersprawl acquired a narrative through and inspired by the process of the project - a kind of reverse illustration. Bathos matures into pathos as the probe protagonist rises from the ruins of the mariner city ship, venturing on to expore the strange pastiche of the city it discovers, eventually finding itself in its emptied existence.
