OSSE Washington, D.C. Reading Campaign

Reading...It Takes You Places - is a new citywide effort that combats the growing problem of illiteracy in DC.

The Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) hopes to encourage DC individuals and families to read daily and through this effort is confident that the Reading...It Takes You Places campaign will work to increase literacy across the District.

By working together and bringing awareness to the problem of illiteracy in the District of Columbia and promoting the importance of learning to read and reading every day, The Reading...It Takes You Places campaign will reach out to DC residents by providing lists of literacy programs, help build the volunteer base of people who help D.C. residents learn to read, and highlight DC educators and programs that are innovative and successful in teaching children how to read.

The Reading...It Takes You Places campaign is a community effort and only as a community can we improve DC's literacy rates and guarantee our children a successful future.
